Dance the night away at this homage to the awesome ’80s. Experience music videos directed by Julien Temple, throwback jams from live DJs, iconic punk-era collages by Jamie Reid, and more. The Museum encourages guests to use the Houston Wave for transportation to and from Mixed Media.

Get in the dancing mood with the night’s film, Absolute Beginners. The unconventional musical, directed by Julien Temple, features David Bowie and is preceded by a music video for his song "Blue Jean."


DJ and live performer B. Bravo is a driving force in the emerging worldwide Modern Funk Music. As a founding member of Salva’s Frite Nite label and crew based in San Francisco, Bravo creates a unique sound in electronic music connecting interstellar fun, hip hop, and R&B with dance and bass music.

Houston Press Music Hall of Fame inductee DJ Sun (Soular Productions) has worked as a recording artist and DJ for two decades, winning the Houston Press Best DJ Award on multiple occasions and the Best CD by a Local Musician award for his album “One Hundred.”

Houston-based DJ Marc Nicholson specializes in ’80s club music and is known for his beats at ETRO LOUNGE.

Entry is limited to guests 18 and older. Present photo ID for admission. Drinks for sale by credit card at the bar. Only ages 21 and older may purchase and consume alcoholic beverages.
